If you've heard of manifestation, odds are you've also heard of the Law of Attraction, as these are two terms that are often used interchangeably.
Most people talk about manifestation and how it can benefit your life and, in the past, finding scientific backing was a difficult task. However, more research is being done on how the law of attraction works in a scientific way and the backing for these beliefs continues to grow on a daily basis.

What is manifestation and the Law of Attraction?
The idea that our thoughts can help manifest different results in our lives was largely popularized by the famous book known as "The Secret", which based its findings on the Law of Attraction.
But, this was not the first time these ideas were presented. The ideas were actually written out much earlier in the 1920’s by Napoleon Hill, the author of “Think and Grow Rich”.
Napoleon based his ideas off of his learnings from interviews and lessons taught to him by the most successful people of his time; men like Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller, and Thomas Edison. These are just a few of the big names and mega successful people that were intuitively using the techniques he discusses in his book. He found that they all applied the ideas of using their thoughts to create realities which we now know as manifesting.
Law of Attraction and manifestation are the idea that we're able to create our own reality, and by putting our thoughts towards a specific goal or material object, we can attract them into our lives.
In practice, the Law of Attraction requires the user to think positively and optimistically so they can use the power of their thoughts to obtain success and overcome limiting beliefs and negative thoughts.

The scientific proof of manifestation
1. Placebo effect
The placebo effect is probably the best scientific evidence that our thoughts hold power, especially when referring to its healing properties.
Placebo is an important part of medical studies when testing the efficacy of different drugs or treatments. As an example of what it's used for, let's take a look at how a normal medical study would be conducted.
If a topical cream with an eczema drug is being tested, a study may place participants into two separate groups. Group A will use the eczema cream, while group B will act as the placebo by using a regular cream without the eczema drug. No one in either group is told which type of cream they're using.
Amazingly, the group B participants might see the same positive results as group A from using the cream even though there is no active compound in group B’s cream.
Why does this happen? Group B participants assumed they were using an eczema cream (even though they weren't), which caused their eczema symptoms to improve simply because they believed that would be the result. The key to the placebo effect working is that the participants must truly believe that they will get the intended result.
The placebo effect represents our mind-body connection, proving that positive thinking and more importantly, belief, can physically and mentally manifest positive results without the use of any type of medicine. This is a scientific fact, and why placebo testing is used so extensively in medical studies.
Fun Fact: Most drugs do not make it into the market because they cannot beat the placebo effect. Beliefs are very powerful.
On the flip side, the placebo effect is also present with negative thinking, which of course, elicits negative results. A great example of this is Medical Student's Syndrome, which represents the development of symptoms of a specific disease a medical student is studying. It's been found that around 70% to 80% of medical students develop this syndrome while studying. Crazy, I know.
2. Quantum theory
I know it sounds complicated, but there's something very important I want to touch on. Quantum theory helps to explain the behavior of matter on an atomic and subatomic level (the smallest level of energy).
It was shown through an astonishing experiment known as the Double Slit that the behavior of particles can be dramatically changed by simply observing them. This suggests that there's potential to change our physical reality in ways that we have not fully grasped yet.
The idea that simply observing and thinking about an expected result can influence the actual result is a difficult thing to study. But due to the radical nature of the theory, scientists are continuing to develop ways to further verify these findings.
What does this mean for us?
This tells us that we have influence over much more than we think we do and that we can change many things in our circle of influence both internally and externally.
The best manifestation techniques
Now that we know a bit about how the science works. Let’s look at how to actually apply it to your life!
1. Write and draw what you want to attract
Putting your goals and aspirations onto paper is one of the most profound manifestation techniques.
Why? You can write out and draw every detail that describes what you're looking to attract into your life. This is something you can look back on regularly, reminding you of your goals and making it easier to visualize any drawings you've created.
By doing this we're able to trick our subconscious mind into believing we have the things we write. To do this effectively, you must describe your manifestations as if you already have them in your life and be very specific in what you're creating and how it makes you feel.
A couple of examples of how to implement this technique is with a vision board or manifestation journal.
2. Put energy towards your goals
People will often visualize what they want to attract, without ever putting in any energy or work into making it a reality.
As discussed earlier, there's certainly power in simply having a positive mindset towards specific goals. However, action and energy are requirements to manifesting anything. This means you will have to use your energy and emotions, while also manifesting and taking action to create them.
Let's say you want to earn a million dollars over the next year. In instances like this, you should have the mindset of "I’m so grateful that I manifested a million dollars by X date". When you say this your should feel it, believe it, and be able to imagine what this will look like in your life, while also actively working towards this goal.
This is a much more powerful combination, especially for really audacious goals. Instead of just hoping it will happen, you need to know it will happen and confirm this with action and energy.
3. Tell others
It's one thing to privately manifest, but It's another to actually tell other people what you're looking to attract.
This is effective because if you're able to speak with confidence to someone else about something you want in life, you grow the belief that it's true and can happen for you.
Remember that it takes practice to manifest things and each person has to learn what works best for them. The most successful people have made manifestation a habit and have practiced enough to be able to do it almost in their sleep. This is why success seems to follow them like a magnet. Don’t be afraid to try different things and keep working at it until you make manifesting your desires a habit as well.
